“We will ensure that UP Mindanao will keep abreast with developments and perhaps exceed the other CUs that have been created earlier.”

As the UP President Danilo L. Concepcion stated in his remarks on the 44th UPAA Regional Alumni Institute (RAI), organized by the UP Mindanao Foundation Inc. (UPMFI) and UP Mindanao, in cooperation with the UPAA and UPAA-Davao City chapter, was held on 22-23 November 2019, Friday-Saturday, at UP Mindanao, Davao City.

As the Chancellor of the UP Mindanao, Larry Digal charted a plan to cater the needs of Mto Mindanao, as he quoted”…the most complete integrated campus in the UP System” by the proposal of the 5-year expansion program. UPAA President and Alumni Regent Reynaldo C. Laserna, for his part, recalled the alumni’s role toward the establishment of UP Mindanao. And with the support of the number of political figures and a UPAA Director, these include:

• Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri; and

• Department of Science and Technology’s Secretary Fortunato de la Peña

With other speakers also sharing the same opinion about the plan, in which they discussed how their organizations could assist in The UP Mindanao’s expansion plan, who are:

• Department of Agriculture’s Undersecretary Rodolfo Vicerra,

• Former Presidential Advisor on the Peace Process Atty. Jesus Dureza,

• Department of Tourism’s Undersecretary Arturo Boncato,

• The National Economic and Development Authority’s Assistant Secretary Merceditas Sombilla; and

• UP Alumni Association’s Director Roberto Aranton.

With the Panelists present,

• Mindanao Development Authority’s Director Reyzaldy Tan,

• Davao City Planning Officer Ivan Cortez

• Former UP Los Baños Chancellor and Incumbent UPAA 1st Vice-President Luis Rey Velasco, and the
